The slide, used during a conference session, displayed a map in which the names of African countries were misplaced or assigned to the wrong locations, prompting immediate reactions from delegates, researchers and public health advocates attending the event.

Images of the slide quickly circulated on social media, where critics questioned how such a significant geographical error appeared in an official presentation at one of the world’s largest HIV/AIDS conferences.
